Our help is needed to elect Democrat Tricia Zunker in the May 12 special election to fill the 7th Congressional District seat most recently held by Republican Sean Duffy. Before 2010, Democrat David Obey represented the district for more than 40 years.

Tricia Zunker is a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation and an Associate Justice on the Ho-Chunk Supreme Court. She’s a long-time union member, an attorney and law professor, and president of the Wausau School Board.

Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District

Fewer people have registered than the total number of delegates La Crosse County can send to the second tier congressional district level caucuses. All those who registered by the deadline have automatically been elected to move on to the Congressional District level caucus.

Each delegate has received an email from the DPW with details about the Third Congressional District caucus which will take place virtually on May 17th. If you registered and have not received an email, please contact chair@laxdems.com.

BREAKING: Monday, April 6     The Republican-dominated Wisconsin Supreme Court which earlier suspended its own in-person activities due to the coronavirus pandemic has ruled that Governor Tony Evers does not have the ability to postpone Wisconsin’s April 7 election. Republican legislators refuse to change the election date. Many communities do not have enough poll workers. In Milwaukee, with more than 595,000 people,  there are normally 180 neighborhood polling places. On April 7, there will be only FIVE.

And the U.S. Supreme Court, by a 5-4 decision, has struck down the federal judge’s order allowing more time for absentee ballots to be returned. All absentee ballots must be witnessed and returned to clerk’s offices by 8 p.m. April 7 or postmarked and mailed by April 7 and received by the clerk by April 13.
