  • Senator Shilling Listening Session

    Senator Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse) will be holding district office hours over the coming weeks. These office hours offer local residents an opportunity to meet with Sen. Shilling, share their thoughts on state issues and request assistance with state agencies.     
       
    “Families in western Wisconsin continue to have concerns related to flooding, road project delays and access to affordable health care,” said Sen. Shilling. “I want to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to weigh in on the choices that are being made and help find new ways to move our state forward.”

  • LCDP Regular Meeting

    New Business - Nominations for the 2020 LCDP Executive Board.
    The important item of new business will be nominations for the 2020 Executive Board.  The nominating committee will report the names of nominees, and additional nominations can be made from the floor at the regular October meeting.  No further nominations shall be made thereafter. The election will be at the November regular LCDP meeting. (Article VI, Section 1 on the LCDP Bylaws).

    At the LCDP October regular meeting, we are pleased to welcome Andrew Disch, Wisconsin Political Director for the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters (NCSRC), a labor organization that represents nearly 27,000 union members and their families from 46 local unions in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.  He will talk about various issues related to organized labor, including legislative goals of the NCSRC, a brief history of laws impacting unions, and strategies to counter the Republic anti-union movement.

  • LCDP 61st Annual Fall Dinner

    The 2020 presidential election will be the most consequential of our lives. Join us to eat, hear from a well-known political commentator, and share ideas and stories about our visions for a return to sanity and people-focused government.

    Join us for our 61st Annual FALL DINNER FUNDRAISER on Saturday, October 26. Start with a 5 p.m. Social Hour and Appetizers followed by dinner at 6 and our speaker at 6:30 p.m. We’ll also have a 50/50 Raffle and a Silent Auction. This year’s dinner will be at The Concordia Ballroom, 1129 La Crosse Street.

    Our menu: garden salad, lasagna (with or without meat, vegan and gluten freeVI options), bread sticks or garlic bread, cheesecake with fruit topping. Our caterer is ServesYouRight. You may bring an appetizer to share from 5 to 6 p.m. if you wish.

    The suggested donation is $20 for adults and $5 for children six years old and under. We gratefully accept additional donations if you are able. If you cannot attend, please consider donating to help sponsor this event and future projects.

    Funds raised from the dinner, the 50/50 raffle, the silent auction, and your donation will help us rent and furnish a local campaign office, train election volunteers, host local voter educational and motivational events, and more.

    Our special guest will be Matt Rothschild, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, former editor and publisher of The Progressive magazine. (We have invited Democratic presidential candidates and Sen. Tammy Baldwin to speak. If a candidate or Sen. Baldwin accepts, we will reschedule Mr. Rothschild’s talk. We’ll post  speaker updates, if any, at our web page or our Facebook page.)
